What vaccinations does my pet require to stay at Hydegate?
All dogs and cats must be fully vaccinated before their stay. For puppies or out of date boosters, this includes both lots of vaccinations. All initial vaccinations or restarted courses must be completed at least 10 days before your pet’s stay.
Dogs must be up to date with distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus, parainfluenza and leptospirosis vaccinations (covered in the normal annual boosters). Kennel cough is now compulsory, Please note due to this being a live vaccine, this must have been given 2 weeks before arrival.
Can I bring my pet’s bedding and bowls?
Due to New Licencing guideline, it has been necessary to make the following changes to ensure the ultimate stay with us here at Hydegate Pet Resort.
From 1st August 2024
New Bedding and Feeding Policy
- All apartments have a new raised Bed with quality veterinary bedding – synthetic sheepskin for the ultimate comfort.
- This can be changed Daily
- This will increase hygiene levels and ensure the ultimate home comfort during your stay at Hydegate.

- Hygienic Non-Breakable Stainless-Steel Feeding and Water Bowls
- Ensuring safety and no breakages
How many walks will my dog receive a day?
All dogs have three walks a day off the lead or on the lead in our enclosed field (weather dependent), as well as going out in the runs outside their apartments.
What food do you provide?
We have a range of dry and wet food that we can use included in the price. We are also happy for you to bring your own food in, clearly labelled, and with instructions. We normally feed our animals twice a day unless you specify otherwise.
Is there someone on site at all times?
Yes. We have a member of staff and the owner living on site, who will be on call for emergencies outside of our opening hours.
Can I contact you for updates?
Yes. You can email us at contact@hydegatepetresort.co.uk or give us a call on 01453860557. If you are happy for us to put pictures on social media, we can post throughout their stay so you can see regular updates.
My friend’s dog is staying at the same time as mine, can they be walked together?
Yes, with consent from both owners.
Why do you require a next of kin?
If we are unable to contact you for any reason, we would need to be able to contact someone who is acting on your behalf. This could be a relative, friend, or even a vet.
What happens if my pet falls ill during their stay?
The welfare of all the animals in our care always comes first, and we will do our best to treat the animal according to owner’s wishes. We have a form which we ask owners to fill out with any medical requests, but we do also have contact with Vale Vets and Armstrong mobile vets who can give us advice or come out to Hydegate to treat any pet.
What is the Out of Hours service?
Our out of hours apartments are at the front of the site, and they can be used from 6am to 8pm outside of our opening hours so that if you need to drop off or pick up your pet before we open or after we close, you are able to do so, this does incur an additional charge.
My pet is on medication, are you able to administer this?
We are able to administer most types of medication however any medication that isn’t able to be given in their regular food will incur an additional charge.
Can I have my pet groomed during their stay?
Yes. Our trained staff can do baths and basic grooming, and our professional groomer Hannah works three days a week and can do a breed specific full groom.
Can I opt out of my dog being health checked?
Yes, we can swap the health check for another walk if you feel your dog will not appreciate being health checked.
Do you take entire dogs?
Yes, we take intact male and female dogs as well as females in season.
Bookings & Deposits
Full payment is required at the time of booking.
If the booking is cancelled 48 hours or more before your arrival date, you will receive a 50% refund.
